The Photos say it all

Here is what visitors to Bear River get to look at when they stroll down to look at the Peace Garden and the fabulous tidal river.  Duff Wilson is the chair of the greenspace committee for the Bear River Board of Trade, with committee members, Rick Jacques and Jon Welch.

If the Bear River Board of Trade can’t take care of what they already have, why should they get more?  Talk is cheap. This is disgraceful.

The Love of Destruction

It seems like the current Board of Trade has the need to destroy things.  First, they destroyed the windmill. Now they want to destroy things on the neighboring property.

This is how the sign looked after Rick Jacques ran into it with his truck as the property owner watched. It happened the day after we posted the story about how Rick Jacques was responsible for using the wrong rope at the tug of war that amputated four fingers of a man’s hand. Coincidence?

the vandalized entranceway

This is how the entry way looked the day after Rick Jacques‘ first court appearance for  enforcement  of a peace bond. Coincidentally, a stake with orange paint and the words PROP BOT written on it was also  driven into the ground at the same time: the same  kind of stake  Rick Jacques uses to do his illegal survey work.

QUESTION: Coincidence?

Here is what the ground in question looked like 8 years ago.

Here is what it looks like now.

The Board of Trade, wants to destroy this.  Why?  Because Rick Jacques, who is not a surveyor, thinks it belongs to the Board of Trade.  Why?  Because he read the title of the deed to the Board of Trade property. DUH. The other members of the Board of Trade are stupid and corrupt enough to believe him. And go along with him.

If property is in dispute, it is settled in court, not by brute force. And intimidation tactics.

Maybe they figure they are so good at destroying things they should stick with it.  Maybe it is a personal vendetta against the property owner who had the nerve to criticize them and their illegal and immoral behavior.

The bottom line is that the Board of Trade has no use for this land, even if it is theirs (which it isn’t)  What are they going to do with it when it is destroyed? Plant another garden?  Make a parking lot?

They can’t even take care of their own property.(see the photos say it all).

The property owner will engage in whatever court proceedings are necessary to protect her property. This means a very expensive and drawn out legal wrangle for the Board of Trade.  Something they can’t afford, either financially or in the eyes of the community. And for what????

If they really cared about this town, they would just walk away and leave it alone.

Do they have the integrity to do so?  Stay tuned.

The Board of Trade directors destroyed the Windmill without a motion or vote of any kind. They were in such a hurry to have it gone…but look what tourists get to look at instead! The Waterfront Park is one of the great attractions of the village. We wonder what the tourists think when they see this mess.

It is important to note that the sole purpose of the Annual Perennial sale each year was to generate revenue for the maintenance of the Waterfront Park. It is obvious that those monies were diverted elsewhere.

The Board of Trade owns this property. Dozens of tourists walk through there every day. What a sad image to take away with them! In past years, the windmill and park were the subject of thousands of photos every year, but not any more. So much for the BOT’s declaration of making Bear River beautiful.

Update: On August 14th, the lawn in this area was finally mown. Let’s hope it stays that way. Now, how about getting those gardens taken care of!
